EN590 Diesel: Specifications Buyers Should Understand

EN590 is a European automotive diesel specification that commercial buyers often use as shorthand. The name is a starting point for a requirement, not a complete description of a parcel.

What the name does and does not tell you

When a buyer writes “EN590 diesel”, the supply team can see the product family. It still needs the destination, the quantity, the delivery basis and the properties that matter at that destination. Climate, local regulation and the receiving terminal can change what “suitable diesel” means, even when the buyer starts from EN590.

Properties that usually get discussed

Commercial diesel discussions commonly cover sulfur content, density, viscosity, flash point, cetane number, water and sediment, lubricity and cold-flow behaviour such as the cold filter plugging point. Those items belong on the specification that applies to the shipment. They should not be assumed from a webpage.

ORION-T LTD does not publish fixed laboratory values for EN590 on this site. Product specifications are provided according to the applicable supply specification and transaction.

Match the specification to the destination

A diesel grade that is familiar in one market can fail a receiving requirement in another because of sulfur limits, seasonal cold-flow grades or local naming. Ask which specification the discharge destination will accept, and whether summer or winter quality is required. Put that in the enquiry so the review is about the product you actually need.

How this sits with a purchase request

Use the EN590 diesel supply page for the commercial outline, then request a quote with quantity, destination and the specification you need. A form submission is a request for review. It is not confirmation that a parcel is available.

For current market statistics, use primary sources such as the International Energy Agency or the statistics office of the destination country. This article does not estimate prices or volumes.
