Global Diesel Supply and Demand

Diesel remains a core transport and industrial fuel. Demand does not move in one global rhythm, and this page does not invent statistics to suggest that it does.

Where diesel is used

Road freight, buses, agriculture, mining, construction and some industrial boilers account for a large share of diesel use in many countries. In some markets diesel also supports power generation when the grid is short. Those uses rise and fall with freight activity, harvests, construction and the price of alternative fuels. The mix is local.

Why supply is not one product

Diesel is specified for a destination after it is produced and blended. Sulfur limits and cold-flow grades differ. A parcel described only as “diesel” can be the wrong product for a receiving country even when the volume looks right. Buyers should tie the enquiry to a specification, which is the approach on the EN590 diesel page.

Where to read current figures

Prices, inventory and demand forecasts change and should be taken from the organisation that publishes them. The International Energy Agency, national energy ministries and recognised price reporting agencies are the right places for current figures. ORION-T LTD does not publish a price index and does not estimate global balances on this website.

If you have a defined diesel requirement, send it to the supply team with destination and quantity. Market commentary is not an offer of supply.
